We were looking for comfort, but not at the expense of design.

When we discovered barefoot shoes, we understood why so many shoes felt narrow, stiff, or uncomfortable to wear for hours. But we also saw another problem: almost none of them matched our style of dress.

Libertas was born to fill that gap. We make ballet flats, sandals, and sneakers with toe space and flexible soles, without making them look like technical footwear.

The Founders

Libertas started with a rather simple question

Why did taking care of your feet have to mean dressing differently? In July 2024, we decided to find our own answer.

victoria and manuela

We had discovered a way to wear shoes that gave more room to the foot, but we missed models that we could wear with our usual clothes.

We started with the ballet flat: a very everyday shoe that almost always forces the toes together. From there, we continued designing pairs that feel good on the inside and look good on the outside.

What we don't negotiate

The last follows the foot. Not the other way around.

We leave space at the front so that the toes are not squeezed. The sole is flat, thin, and flexible, with no rigid structures that dictate to the foot how it should move.

That is barefoot for us.

Its barefoot nature shouldn't be noticeable at first glance

We didn't want another shoe that only worked for walking or sports. We wanted ballet flats for the office, sandals for summer, and sneakers that matched what we already had in our closet.

That's why we dedicated as much time to proportions, colors, and finishes as we did to the last and sole.

From here, and made by those who know

We design and manufacture in Spain with specialized workshops. Having production close to home allows us to check materials, lasts, and finishes without losing sight of how a shoe is actually made.

We are not looking to fill your closet. We prefer to make pairs that you'll want to wear again and take care of.
